Start with a map, not a guess
SPX 0DTE options expire on the same day. That can make price move fast, so a plan matters before the opening bell. The GEX Heatmap helps you see the option strikes where positioning may matter most. Think of it as a map of possible reaction areas - not a promise that price will stop or turn there.
Before the market opens, look at the 0DTE Heatmap and write down a few nearby strikes. On the August 14 example below, SPX was near 7,806. The key upside areas were 7,810, 7,825, and 7,850. The key pivot was around 7,790. A clean break below that pivot could open the way toward 7,760.
Use premium flow for confirmation
Premium flow shows where option money is moving. When SPX is rising into an important level, ask a simple question: Are traders still supporting the move with call premium?
In this example, SPX moved higher after the open. But when it reached 7,810, call premium stopped confirming the move. Price was still near an important upside level, while the desire to chase calls was fading. That is a useful warning to reduce a long position or take some profit instead of waiting for the perfect top.

After that, SPX fell to about 7,776. The lesson is not that every divergence creates a reversal. The lesson is that a key level plus weakening premium flow can give you a practical reason to manage risk early.
Look for support when the move changes
Later in the session, the Heatmap showed a large negative GEX area around 7,770, with the positive/negative GEX divide near 7,775. This did not guarantee a bounce, but it gave traders a specific zone to watch instead of guessing in the middle of a fast decline.

At the same time, put premium flow began to lose strength. If you were short, that was a reason to think about trimming or closing part of the position. You do not need to call the exact low. You only need a process that tells you when the original short idea is becoming less attractive.

Expect quieter trade inside a tight range
The Strike Pressure Matrix added one more piece of context. It showed large positive and negative GEX around 7,770 to 7,790. When SPX stayed inside that 20-point area after 2:00 PM, the market became more balanced and less exciting. On this day, SPX closed near 7,785.75 - inside the zone.

A simple 0DTE routine
- Before the open: Mark the closest Heatmap levels above and below SPX.
- At a key level: Check whether call or put premium flow confirms the move.
- When flow fades: Reduce risk, take partial profit, or avoid chasing price.
- Near a support or resistance zone: Let price behavior decide. Do not assume the level must hold.
- Use a stop: 0DTE options can lose value very quickly. Keep position size small and know your exit before entering.
The goal is not to predict every SPX move. The goal is to make fewer emotional decisions by using the same map-and-confirmation process every day.
Educational only: This article is for general education and uses one historical session as an example. It is not investment advice, a recommendation, or a guarantee of results. Options involve significant risk, and 0DTE options can lose value rapidly.
